School Development Plan (2003-2006)

Where We Are Now

Our Strengths
  • The school is committed to p roviding students with ample opportunities to enrich their school life and develop their potential.
  • The school strives for quality teaching. The teaching staff is well qualified with a high degree of professionalism; they are devoted, caring and serious in their teaching, always ready to spend extra time with the students.
  • The school is highly supportive in the teaching staff's pursuit of continuing professional training.
  • There is already in place a systematic plan to integrate cross-curricular themes which forms a firm foundation to integrate moral and civic education into school-based activities.
  • The school management is open and provides support to different views and innovative ideas.
  • The school is well equipped with audio visual aids, multimedia learning facilities and information technology hardware and software.
  • The school has built up over the years an atmosphere that students in general are well behaved and motivated to learn.
Our Weaknesses
  • The workload of teaching staff is heavy. Teachers cannot devote sufficient time to establish stronger teacher student relationship. Teachers have difficulty in sparing time to seek continuing professional training.
  • Students in general are weak in critical thinking, lacking creativity and need improvement in problem-solving skill.
  • The school does not have all the favourable conditions required for providing a good environment for students to improve their language abilities.
Our Opportunities
  • The school is well posed to gain greater recognition as an institution striving for excellence.
  • The professionalism of the teaching staff and the high motivation of the students provide strength in getting more resources from outside the school, whether from the various education funds, alumni or parents to enhance the overall performance and image of the school.
  • A strong partnership exists between the school and the parents. The Parent Teacher Association takes a leading role in channeling inputs from parents to the school.
Our Threats

The reduced banding resulted in the growing number of students of diverse learning abilities. This has created more learning problems for the students. Teachers find it increasingly difficult to cater for the diverse individual needs.

The influence of the mass media is far too great to be under-estimated. They affect the studentsˇ¦ moral standards and attitudes, thus affecting their learning performance causing emotional and behavioural problems.
